Center Street to close for 2nd annual Latino Festival

Last years Latino Festival parade was a big success and this year it should be bigger and better than ever.

LOGAN – One thing about Latinos is they like to party. Their parties are generally colorful, musical and with plenty of good food to eat. The 2nd Annual Latino Festival Celebration in Cache Valley sponsored by the Cache Valley Media Group will be no different. This year the celebration will held Saturday, September 17th on Center Street in Downtown Logan from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Carolina Cadima from Cache Valley Media Group said this year is going to bigger and better than last year. When people heard about the success of last year’s celebration, they wanted to get involved with this year’s.

“We will have more good food with 10 food trucks and 20 vendors,” she said. “Not only do we have groups from Mexico, we have groups from Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, Bolivia and more.”

Center Street will be closed from Main Street to 100 West for the Top of Utah Marathon and Logan City allowed it to stay closed for the Latino Festival until 10 p.m.

“The parade will begin at 4 p.m.,” she said. “It has grown to 16 entries with CAPSA, The Family Place, USU’s Latin International Association added to all the countries that will be represented.”

Festivities will not only include the Latino parade, but also food trucks, cultural dancers, musical groups and family fun.

The Cache Valley Media Group has advertised this event across all 10 radio station formats and social media platforms as well as Cache Valley Daily.

We’re anticipating a large number of people this year,” Cadima said. “The Cache Valley Media Group would like to invite local businesses and the community to participate with us in the festival this year.”

Participants in last year’s Latino Festival march down Center Street as part of their parade.

There will also be additional vendors who have purchased booth space and will be selling products at this event, however their booth/vendor spaces will be located in the street near the curb along with food trucks located in the parking area between the former Star Steppers Dance Studio and The White Owl.

There will be an elevated stage placed on the sidewalk area between The Waffle Iron and Great Harvest Bread for entertainment that will go on throughout the evening.

The media group is hoping for more participation from the pubic for this great event.

Center Street will be closed between 100 West and Main Street to vehicular traffic beginning Friday, September 16, at 6 p.m. and will remain closed until Saturday September 17, at 11:59 p.m.

Someone obviously chose to organize the one. If you want an Irish Festival, maybe you should organize one?

There was the Celtic Festival in August at the American West Heritage Center. Sorry you missed it. Maybe you can put it on your calendar for next year. It’s probably more Scottish than Irish, but you’re in the right zone there.
