LOGAN — A 24-year-old Logan man, accused of trying to meet up for sex with an undercover police officer, has been denied bail. Aries Homan was arrested Tuesday after allegedly driving to a prearranged location where law enforcement were waiting.

Homan appeared Monday morning in 1st District Court. He has been charged with 12 felonies including attempted rape and sodomy on a child, enticing a minor by internet or text and sexual exploitation of a minor.

Cache County Deputy Attorney Ronnie Keller explained how Homan allegedly messaged the Logan City Police Officer, who was posing as a 13-year-old girl. He arranged to meet Tuesday after sending multiple messages that were sexual in nature.

When law enforcement questioned Homan, he allegedly admitted to being attracted to minors and viewing child pornography. He also had condoms and lubricant in his possession.

Judge Spencer Walsh refused to grant Homan bail. He ruled that there was substantial evidence to show the crimes were committed and the suspect posed a danger to the community.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 31, when it will be determined whether or not prosecutors have sufficient evidence to bind Homan over for trial.

Court records show Homan doesn’t have any criminal history. He could face up to life in prison, if convicted.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

Should probably change the head lines because it isnt illegal to hookup with an under cover officer as long as its consensual.
