Fashion merchandising students get to strut their stuff at B-Tech

LOGAN — It’s a chance to support students at Bridgerland Technical College and it happens this Wednesday and Thursday evening at 730p.m., it’s the annual B-Tech Fashion Merchandising and Development students’ Fall Fashion Show.

On KVNU’s For the People program on Monday, department head Hailey Ropelato told us how they put this together each year.

“We have been doing these fashion shows for about 30 years, if you can believe it. We do two shows, one in the Spring and one in the Fall, and we have built these shows into the curriculum that we teach our students.

“Part of fashion merchandising and development actually includes event planning, so the curriculum gives them the opportunity to create and work on a full-scale production,” Ropelato explained.

She said the students get to do the advertising, the choreography, the music and all of the other elements of the show.

“Part of that being styling the looks with local retailers who are so generous to work with us and we have a great relationship with them, we love to showcase their products. And we also have awesome students that actually fully design and construct two sets that we will be showing in the show as well.”

Ropelato said the theme for this show is “Wonderland,” a play on Alice in Wonderland. They’ve created a whole Wonderland world within the room, from the refreshments to the backdrop to the lighting and staging.

Tickets for the show are $8 and available at the door.

The main campus is at 1301 N 600 West in Logan.  For more information, visit btech.edu.
