Region 11 RPI remains largely unchanged in girls and boys basketball

SMITHFIELD – The latest RPI rankings from Utah High School Activities Association remain largely unchanged from the week before. The one difference is that the Bear River Bears boys basketball team dropped one spot after their loss on Friday against the top-ranked Sky View Bobcats. In Randolph, the Rich Rebels reclaimed the top spot to join the Sky View boys and Ridgeline girls as the top teams in the state for their respective classifications.

The conference tournaments are also underway in Idaho for girls basketball with a showdown Monday night between West Side and Bear Lake. The Bears of Bear Lake (4-16) came into the conference tournament ranked #17 in 2A girls basketball while West Side (14-6) was ranked #6. Bear Lake lost to #2 Soda Springs (17-4) in the opening round but surprised #9 Malad (11-10) on Saturday.

BOX ELDER BEES

The Box Elder boys basketball team dropped one spot this week to #8 in the 5A standings with an overall record of 11-6. The girls team, meanwhile, stays at #17 with a 7-11 record.

RICH REBELS

The Rich Rebels have moved up to the #1 overall spot in 1A girls basketball with a 15-3 record. The boys team, however, dropped one spot to #9 with a 10-9 record.

IDAHO SOUTHEAST CONFERENCES

The final regular season MaxPreps girls basketball rankings have been released for all Idaho classifications as teams are involved in their conference tournaments. In 4A, Preston finished the season ranked #20 with a 2-16 record. The Indians did not qualify for any post season play. In 2A, the West Side Pirates finished ranked #6 with a 14-6 record; the Malad Dragons finished ranked #9 with a 11-10 record; and, the Bear Lake Bears finished ranked #17 with a 4-16 record.

In boys basketball, Preston is currently ranked #6 in the latest 4A Power Rankings with a 14-6 overall record, 1-2 in conference play. In 2A, Bear Lake is ranked #5 behind a 17-2 overall record and undefeated 6-0 record in conference. West Side is ranked #18 with a 9-11 record and 4-3 conference record. Malad has not won a conference game yet (0-7) and has a 3-16 overall record, earning them the #24 ranking in 2A Power Rankings.
