Hoax school shooting calls police response to many northern Utah schools

NORTH LOGAN — Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a report of shots being fired at Green Canyon and Box Elder high schools, Wednesday morning. The high schools were placed on brief lockdowns while officers investigated the threat.

Kirk McRae, Cache County School District HR Director said 911 operators received a call of a possible shooter at Green Canyon High School at 9:20 a.m. The school was immediately put into a soft lockdown and hall check.

As Cache County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene, school administrators decided to elevate to a full lockdown. Students and staff all cleared the building safely.

McRae said, by 9:39 a.m. law enforcement had determined the threat was a hoax and the school was reopened.

According to the Brigham City Police Department, officers were called to a similar threat at Box Elder High School. As they arrived on the scene, they were able to determine that there were no actual threats and that the call had originated elsewhere.

Green Canyon and Box Elder high schools were two of multiple schools throughout northern Utah that received hoax calls about active school shootings prompting similar police responses and some evacuations. Most of the other schools were located further south in the Weber, Salt Lake and Utah county areas.

In a statement, the Utah Department of Public Safety said, “Multiple hoax calls have claimed active shooter situations in various schools throughout the state. These calls are taken very seriously and are immediately looked into by law enforcement agencies.”

No similar threats were made about Logan schools. “District officials were aware of what was happening to other schools and are in touch with administrators, giving them heads-up,” explained Shana Longhust, Logan City School District Spokesperson.

The Utah Department of Public Safety said, “We ask the public to please stay calm as our local law enforcement partners have not verified the validity of these accusations and we are currently looking into the origin of these calls.”

McRae said the Cache County School District appreciated law enforcement’s fast and prompt response.

The calls come days after three children and three staff members were shot and killed inside a Nashville school.

So, is anyone going to be charged for willfully calling in false shooter reports? This type of behavior used to be viewed as a serious crime and was at one time treated as such. Because all police departments/911 dispatch services have the capabilities to trace phone numbers, will the individual(s) who called in these false reports face any consequences for their actions?

The internet calls came from IP addresses outside the country. They didn’t call 911, but rather the non-emergency police numbers which don’t have the same tracing capabilities.

To be honest it’s probably students that are getting sick and tired of republican politicians actively working to continue this senseless violence rather than solving the problem

In Wyoming all school doors are locked from outside entry, you have to buzz in from the front door, under security camera’s, then check in to the office with an ID. I think all schools should have a policeman or armed security guard onsite at all times. Or have metal detecting at entrance to schools. Regardless of what I have posted, I hope they find all of the people responsible and charge them with all the felony charges that they can get them on!

More than likely a liberal stance, they are the ones trying to say guns are bad! A gun is an inanimate object, it’s the mentality I’ll idiot using it that is the problem!

Well a few years ago when the House passed a law aiming to address mental health and guns, 205 of 206 republicans voted against the bill, but it still passed. Then when it went to the Senate the republicans passed it quickly. Oh my bad, just kidding, they didn’t even let the bill be debated on the floor of Congress!. But sure, keep acting like there is debate to be had while children get blown to pieces at school AGAIN! How many next week? How many kids have to die for your side to stop preventing a solution?

Pete is a complete moron. He believes that guns just suddenly become sentient and start shooting people. The woman who shot those children in Tennessee was hopped up on testosterone, you know the hormone that increases aggression. Not to mention she was completely mentally unstable and had the cops kill her because she didn’t want to kill herself; she wrote those very words to her friend via text message before she went and took her rage out on defenseless children. There is nothing that anyone could do to justify this type of behavior, absolutely nothing. So, Pete, if you don’t agree with legislation that passes, do you think it’s okay to go shoot up a school? Because that’s precisely what you advocate. There was a time not so long ago when people actually knew how to cope with their problems, imagine that! When people didn’t play the victim card and actually addressed their own issues without shooting children. Now we have freaks and crybabies screaming and shooting people if their feelings are hurt. It’s pathetic. Grow up idiots.

Oh and by the way Pete the Political Provocateur, since the tragedy of the Columbine High School shooting in 1999, 175 children have been killed in their schools. Every one of the shooters has proven to have been mentally ill, medicated on psychotropics, and/or under the care of a psychiatrist. Every single one. Guess what? Over 100,000 people have died from overdosing on fentanyl every year. And guess what else? Just in the last week, over 4 million fentanyl pills and powdered fentanyl have been intercepted at the collapsed southern border. And over 90 tons of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and heroin was intercepted last year. In the last month, 200 individuals on the terror watch list were arrested on the border. Just think of the amount of drugs that are getting through undetected; just think of how many dangerous individuals are coming through the border undetected as well. I think having firearms in order to defend oneself and their loved ones is a pretty logical solution when this is what is coming into our nation. After all, criminals won’t be surrendering their firearms anytime soon, why should law-abiding citizens surrender theirs? We have a second amendment to protect our lives, the lives of our loved ones, and our property. We also have the second amendment to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government such as the current administration that advocated for illegals to “immediately surge the border” in 2021. Think about for what you advocate. Unless you’re not intelligent enough to see reason and if that is the case, I pity you.
