LOGAN – Just as the Tuesday afternoon storm was winding down, outgoing Utah State University President Noelle Cockett walked out of the north entrance to Old Main and was surprised by supporters who had organized a “Thank You Walk.”
She is serving in her final semester as USU President.
Dr. Cockett, a tenured faculty member, said she will complete her six-year presidential term in July and re-join the school’s Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences.
The event was organized by USU student body president Clara Alder and other Aggie student government leaders. It had been in the works for weeks. The reception line even included several classes from nearby Edith Bowen Elementary School.
Cockett’s last day as president will be July 1, 2023.
I’m looking over what she accomplished during her tenure as president and can’t see anything that merits any sort of celebration.
That’s not very kind to say, Susan. President Cockett has accomplished enough to become the first female president of Utah State University, and has well earned a celebration. Please remember that you don’t need to share every thought that comes into your head, and your words still have a great impact even if it’s just a comment on the internet.
