LETTER: Response to Yvonne Marcyes and Drag

Thank you for making the point. When it comes to young audiences, with Drag we never know what we are going to get. The media hasn’t changed that after all these years. As long as the spectrum of drag is so large that using the description does allow us to anticipate, it is perfectly appropriate for anyone to say, “Nope. Not for my kids” and/or “ Not for me.”

It’s the same with movie rankings. They have become almost worthless and lead parents or kids to potentially be exposed to violence or inappropriate sex scenes they otherwise wouldn’t want to digest and regurgitate.

For me, private money for Drag is a person’s choice. Public money for Drag isn’t. In other words, parents have a right to do their job which is to parent. Sometimes parents aren’t popular when they parent.

Get over it.

God deals with it all day every day. It’s the price we pay for valuing agency over tyranny.
