Community has opportunity to help double donation to CAPSA

LOGAN – Citizens Against Physical & Sexual Abuse (CAPSA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, has been awarded a $5,000 donation from SentryWest Insurance Services.

The donation has the potential to double to $10,000 with help from the local community. From May 1, supporters can vote online at www.agentgiving.com/SentryWest-Insurance-Services to help the team reach their donation goal. With a mix of at least 500 votes and comments, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000.

The funds raised from the donations will be used to support 230 casework sessions and 41 survivors of domestic and sexual violence by providing them with physical and emotional resources. This includes access to emergency shelters, employment services, support groups, and covering other needs from food insecurity to job training.

“We want to make sure CAPSA is able to serve victims in the community and adjust in real time to their changing needs,” said Paul Borup, President of SentryWest Insurance Services. “We are grateful to Liberty Mutual and Safeco for providing much-needed funds to continue their impactful work and thrilled at the opportunity to double the donation just by calling on the community to show their support.”

CAPSA is a nonprofit domestic violence, sexual assault and rape support center serving Cache Valley and the Bear Lake area. Each year CAPSA serves more than 1,900 women, men, and children fleeing abuse and healing from the trauma associated with domestic violence or sexual abuse. CAPSA’s support services include 24-hour support phone lines, emergency shelter, casework, rape exam advocacy, prevention education, transitional housing, and clinical therapy. All CAPSA’s services are free and confidential.

The Make More Happen Awards allow Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance to select up to 37 independent agents nationwide to donate up to $370,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application and photos demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit.
