LOGAN – Cache Community Connections has finalized the Logan Tabernacle Noon Concert and Lecture Series. Due to the ongoing renovation and construction of the Logan Tabernacle the venue was changed.
The Cache Community Band will kick off this year’s Noon Concerts and Lectures series at the Caine Concert Hall on the campus of Utah State University.
The rest of the Noon Concerts and Lectures will be held at the century-old Logan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1st/2nd Ward meetinghouse located at 89 South 200 West, directly north of Logan High School.
Parking and an ADA ramp is located at the northside of the building.
There is plenty of parking in the vicinity of the church. Logan High School will be out for summer break and their parking lots are adjacent to the church. Year after year CCC selects some of the top talented individuals and groups to entertain locals and out-of-towners.
For nearly half a century the Cache Community Band has given Cache Valley residents a chance to hear a concert band play some classic pieces. The community band not only provides an opportunity for community members of Cache Valley to hear band music, but also gives band members a reason to practice instruments they played in high school.
That is just the beginning of a summer loaded with all kinds of local music and lectures. Besides the daily noon concerts and lectures there are also four Friday evening events and there are no COVID restrictions this year.
The building where this year’s programs are being held is a smaller version of the Logan Tabernacle with lots of history, said Richard West, a member of Cache Community Connections.
There are large white pillars in the front of the building. It even has a pipe organ that has survived several building remodels.
The floor in the chapel slopes toward the front, giving almost everyone in attendance an unobstructed view of the podium and choir seats, plus it has a balcony.
“We are hoping to have two or three more evening concerts, specifically to celebrate St. John’s Episcopal Church’s 150th Anniversary,” said West. “Those concerts will likely be held at St. John’s and will hopefully be presented during August and September.”
Everyone is welcome to the concerts and admission is free.
Cache Community Connections (CCC) is a group of interfaith religious and civic leaders in Cache Valley who came together with a belief that spiritual leadership and unity are vital to the community’s wellbeing.
The organization was formed in the wake of Sept. 11, 2001 when then-Logan Mayor Doug Thompson extended an open door invitation to the leaders representing all religions denominations and civic groups in Cache Valley. The Summer Concert series has been a highlight of summers in Logan since then.
