Common Core debated Monday

Those who oppose the Utah Common Core claim it was adopted without public input while supporters say that Common Core is actually an attempt to create higher standards within Utah’s education system.

The issue will be debated Monday at a forum to be held at the Mount Logan Middle School. It will be hosted by Jason Williams, co-host of KVNU’s For the People program, and everyone is invited to attend.

The debate starts at 6 p.m. but officials say it was incorrectly published that the time would be 7 p.m. in Sunday’s Herald Journal. Tami Pyfer, chairwoman of the Utah State Board of Education and a resident of Logan, says she hopes everyone gets the word about the time which, she repeats, is 6 p.m. Monday night.
